Mayan women crochet these beautiful kippot. They live in Taltimiche and Reforma, remote mountain villages in Guatemala. Working through fair trade, they are trying to raise themselves and their families out of extreme poverty. The women love making the kippot because they don’t require a large investment of time and materials like most of their weavings. More importantly, there are very few opportunities in rural Guatemala to make an income, especially for women. The income they receive from the kippot is changing their lives. It allows them to feed their families well, send their children to school and harbor hopes for a better future. Mayan Hands proudly brings these kippot to enhance your simcha!
